Best Sommelier Hong Kong Competition 2003 - Champion

A series of fortunate events at her first job landed Constance Lee an opportunity to work in the wine industry. It did not take long for Constance to know that she had picked the right path – by winning WINPAC AC Robert Mondavi Sommelier Competition in 1998.

1. What do you love the most about your job?

I love the sourcing process of my job, where we are required to look beyond famous labels and into less-known boutique vineyards. Nothing beats the feeling of discovering a hidden gem (or the "next-big-wine")!

2. What is your most memorable wine & why?

Haut Brion 1989. It goes without saying that this classic is in a class of itself. But what makes this wine most memorable was the occasion - we opened this bottle on the eve of 30 June 1997, and enjoyed the wine as we witnessed the historic handover ceremony.

3. Any obscure grape varietals caught your attention lately?

Nebbiolo from Barolo and Barbaresco. I believe Piemonte wines will be a major player in the wine market in the near future.
