Creash Wong has always enjoyed wine but never considered making it a full time job until he was awarded First Runner-Up in Hong Kong Best Sommelier Competition in 2000. There and then, he knew he belong to the “big-league” – the rest is history.

1. What do you love the most about your job?

Being a sommelier requires one to be on his toe at all times because as we all know wine is very delicate and varies from bottle to bottle. Coupled with the complexity of food pairing, it becomes challenging. However, this challenge is what makes the job fun!

2. What is your most memorable wine & why?

1945 Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac, France. I tasted this wine in 1999. It had an amazing structure, and very long and delicate finish. The wine was over 54 years old and gave me a glimpse of the art behind the wine in that century!

3. Any obscure grape varietals caught your attention lately?
